The Great Awakening

Slowly, eyes now open
The giant stirs

The chains of captivity rattle
Strained against the requirement of freedom
The inevitable changes to come

The giant of the people
Still groggy from its long sleep
Rises and finds its bonds weak and frail

The time has come to break free of our captivity
To grab the success that is rightfully ours as a people
To come together with one purpose and one voice
So that we may continue to live free and our children
Will have a bright and shining future

 

     We have a chance as a people, humanity, to wake up and realize what is happening in the world around us.  That small still voice inside your head that says you are only one person and can not change anything is lieing.  We can make a difference, for the better.  The government of many nations continue to pass laws that increase the peoples dependancy on those very programs.  Open your eyes and see the truth.  We are all capable, with a little hard work and effort, of supporting our selves.  There are things happening in the world today that need to be addressed and that we all need to be aware of.
     Now I’m not saying that certain things should not be monitored and governed in some way, however, the public should always have the full details made available to them of any way in which they are being ‘watched’, sensured, or otherwise restricted.  I’m sorry but what is going on in Germany, Iran, and a slew of other countries in regards to internet sensureship throws up a lot of red flags.  Perhaps we should be protesting the very things that are happening in our own nation that are similar to what is happening abroad.

     I’ll say it again.  We as a people, as AMERICANS, need to come together and demand some disclosure from our government.  Specifically, a report on all moneys earned during the fiscal year, both tax revenue and private sector investments, and demand it from all levels of govenment to include everything from county to federal.  The government is supposed to answer to the people and currently has become a government that only answers to itself.  The Political agenda of every politician now is “How do I stay in Office and in Power” because that is all our government has become, a consolidation of the power of the People in the hands of the Elite.  Politicians these days will say what ever they believe the populace wants to hear so that they can get into office.  Once in office they will make and vote on bills, not with the peoples best interest in mind, but with the purpose of retaining and growing the power and privillaged position they have attained.  If you feel powerless to effect what is happening in your home town, state, or this country it is only because, we, as a people, are allowing the ‘Government’ to slowly remove our freedoms one by one.  The kicker is that usually we ask them to because we don’t understand that the very freedoms we have come with a price, constant vigilance.  Constant vigilance that those who don’t want us to be free do not start removing those very freedoms.  My freedoms and yours were infringed upon the moment the Patriot Act was passed.  Personally I don’t think that any peice of law that effects the mass populace should be worded in any way that your average person would not be able to understand, however, the sad truth is that most of the laws that roll through congress read like some kind of legal document you would need a team of lawyers to explain to you.  This is wrong.  We need plain worded laws, IE.  You shall not steel. (take something that does not belong to you) Pretty simple I think,  does this really need to be complicated.
     Personally I think that all the complexity that we find in our government today is there to keep the average person from really understanding what is going on.  If all the laws currently in effect were in plain english and were readily available to the public I don’t think half the politicians on Capital Hill would still have a job.
